The Wingham Regional Silver Stick held their opening ceremonies last night.
As part of the festivities, a cheque presentation was made by the local Wingham Peewee Local League team as part of their entry into this year's Good Deeds Cup. The team decided to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation after one of their team mates, Addy McPherson, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. After a great fundraising campaign, the team managed to raise $15,115 after setting a goal of roughly $2,500.
Addy's father was on hand, as well as Nichola Cozad of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and youngster Andrew Wheeler, who also has Type 1, to receive the cheque on behalf of the team.
