Attack Grounds Spitfires 5-1

Jonah Gadjovich's first career hat trick propelled the Owen Sound Attack over the Windsor Spitfires 5-1 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The Attack remain in third place in the OHL Midwest Division with 49 points.  Windsor is second in the West Division with 55.

It did not take long for the Attack to live up to its name.  Just 19 seconds into the opening period, Ethan Szypula scored his fifth goal of the year and it was 1-0 Owen Sound.

Owen Sound added Gadjovich's first two goals in the second period.  His first tally came at 7:20 in the frame.  The Attack's Jacob Friend went to the penalty box for interference after the 13-minute mark of the period, but Gadjovich rose to the short-handed challenge with his second goal of the period, giving the Attack a 3-0 lead.  Windsor's Gabriel Vilardi got the Spits on the board at 18:57 with what became their only goal of the night, but Owen Sound got that goal back before intermission thanks to a score from Matt Schmalz.

The score was 4-1 for most of the third period, but at 18:38, Gadjovich completed the hat trick by putting it past with Spitfires goalie Michael DiPietro.

The Attack continues its homestand Sunday against the Kitchener Rangers.  Windsor plays these same Rangers Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
