Local Teams Make A Run At Canadian Softball Championships

The Chepstow Lang Farms U18 softball team finished 5th in the round robin with a record of 3-3 at the Canadian Championship in Saskatoon, SK.

The team now shifts into playoff mode today. Chepstow's first game is at 10:30am ET against Colverdale, B.C. Game two will be against the host team, Saskatoon, at 4:30pm ET who went undefeated through the round robin. The third game will be played tomorrow against Prince Albert, SK.

Chepstow will have to finish first or second in playoff pool play to advance to the semi-final.

The Belmore Sting start the day in fourth place at 2-2 at the U16 Canadian Championship in Owen Sound.

Belmore beat Napanee 7-3 yesterday in the second day of action. The Sting then lost 9-1 to a Nova Scotia team.

The host, Shallow Lake, won two games. 10-1 over Kitchener-Waterloo and 14-7 over Warman, SK.

Belmore plays both Saskatchewan teams today, the Astros at 10:00am and then Poly Plus Pride at 1:00pm The Sting's third game of the day will be against KW at 5:00pm.

Shallow Lake plays at noon and 3:00pm.
