Canadian Golf Mourns Loss of Halldorson

Golf Canada and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame released a statement today regarding the passing of hall of fame Canadian golfer Dan Halldorson.

Halldorson passed away on the evening of November 18 at his home in Cambridge, Illinois. He passed after suffering a massive stroke two days prior. He was 63.

Golf Canada's statement reads:

"It is with great sadness that Golf Canada, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and the entire golf community mourns the loss of Daniel (Dan) Albert Halldorson who passed away on November 18, 2015 at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Angela, son Mark, three grandchildren and countless friends across the Canadian and International golf community."

Halldorson won just over $1.2-million in earnings on the PGA Tour, including his only tour win at the Manitoba PGA Championship. He also collected seven Canadian Tour, now the Mackenzie Tour, titles. He was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2002, and was later inducted into the Manitoba Golf and Sports halls as well in 2003 and 2007.

Halldorson was also a very close friend of the Doig family in Seaforth. Carolanne Doig says Halldorson was instrumental in bringing the Canadian Professional Tour to Seaforth in 2008.
