It was a high flying start to the OHA Western Junior C hockey season for the Hanover Barons as they hosted the Goderich Flyers at P and H Centre in Hanover.
The Barons were up 3-0 in the first off the back of 3 power play goals, including on a hitting from behind minor that saw a Goderich player ejected.
The second period went much the same as the hosts left that frame up 6-0, tallying two even strength goals 30 seconds apart by #7 Brodie Lemay, who finished with 3 points.
In the third Goderich finally tallied a goal but it was too little too late as the Barons cruised to an 8-1 victory. Led by #27 Jared Kuntz's 4 assist night, the Barons shredded the visiting Flyers on special teams, going a perfect 5/5 on the power play and 6/6 on the penalty kill.
Conversely, the Flyers went 0/6 on the power play, which sealed their fate in a season opening beat down to a powerful looking Barons squad at P and H Centre.
