Drayton Catcher Playing In Softball World Cup

Mount Forest born catcher Victoria Rumph is representing Canada on the international stage.

The Drayton native is in Irvine California competing at the World Cup of Softball.

Canada opened the tournament with three wins in their first four games, losing to Japan before wins over the U.S Juniors, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

So far in the tournament Rumph has not seen any playing time with Natalie Wideman and Kaleigh Rafter splitting the catching duties.

She was named to the roster ahead of a busy summer for the national program. On top of the World Cup of Softball, Team Canada will host the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship from July 7-13.

Rumph is Youngstown State’s all time leader in runs batted in and the only player in the school’s history to finish with a .300 career average.
