Team Flaxey 4-3 at Ontario Scotties After Extra End Loss

Listowel's Team Flaxey split their draws on Thursday at the Ontario Scotties in Penetanguishene. They opened up with a 7-5 victory over Shannon Kee's rink, followed by a 6-5 loss to Sherry Middaugh's side.

The opening draw of the day was a comeback victory for the women curling out the Listowel Curling Club. Team Kee held a 4-1 lead early before Team Flaxey managed to tie it up in the 6th end. They continued to charge and took a 6-5 lead in the 8th, adding 1 more in the 9th and final end.

Flaxey and company - which includes Belgraves Katie Cottrill - were in for another close one in the evening draw.

After 6 ends, Team Flaxey led 3-1. Middaugh's side scored 2 in the 7th to even the score. They took 1 more in both the 8th and 9th ends and took a 5-3 lead.

In the 10th and final end Team Flaxey pulled out a comeback, scoring 2 to even it up at 5-5.

Middaugh took 1 in the extra end for the victory. The loss puts Team Flaxey at a 4-3 record and sit in fourth place.

The last opening round games go Friday. Defending champs team Flaxey take on Clancy Grandy's rink at 2 p.m and are up against Jacqueline Harrison and her team at 7 p.m.
