Listowel Rink Starts Canada Cup Quest In Alberta

Curling out of the Listowel Curling Club, Team Flaxey, skipped by Alison Flaxey starts their Canada Cup draw today against a pair of Curling giants.

First, the team will take on Team Homan in their opening draw skipped by Rachel Homan, the two time Canadian champion. That will be followed up with a big rematch against Olympic champion Jennifer Jones

The competition comes just over a month after Team Flaxey beat Jones at the Masters Grand Slam of Curling in what was seen as a major upset in the curling world. Team Flaxey are looking to establish themselves among the country's elite at a tournament with a stage that is seen by many to be as large as the Brier.

Despite the underdog tag, Team Flaxey are no slouches as the reigning Ontario Scotties tournament champs. That victory is what earned their way to Camrose, Alberta for the Canada Cup.  The event features seven of the top men’s and women’s teams in the country from today(Wednesday) until Sunday.

No matter the result, there are a lot more big draws coming up for Team Flaxey. The Grand Slam Canadian Open is coming up next week.

Team Flaxey Schedule for Wednesday December 3:

Against Team Homan, 3:30pm ET

Against Team Jones, 8:30pm ET
