Cyclones Gearing up for GOJHL Season

The Listowel Cyclones are hoping for a new spin heading into the GOJHL season.
After an 8th place finish last year, Jason Brooks comes in from coaching in the OHL to take over a team that he wants to turn into an intense, high energy squad. So far he likes what he has seen.
The leadership of a man like Brooks seems to be lighting a fire under the veterans. He says returnees Derek Elliot and Ben Shelley are leading the way early in camp. He adds that when the vets take to a new coach, the newcomers tend to follow suit.
Brooks comes to the team after 9 seasons coaching with the Guelph Storm of the OHL, 3 as head coach. He spend the last 2 years with Niagra.
Things are looking good in goal as well. Even if Daniel Dekoning does not return from OHL camp, they picked up Ryan Hergott from Waterloo, and he has impressed so far in camp. Hergott was stuck backing up red hot russian youngster Leo Lazarev. He still managed an 11-3-1 record with a 3.16 goals-against-average.
The Cyclones start their season on September 12th against Brampton at 7:30. You can hear that game on CKNX AM 920.
