Local Teams Power On At National Fastpitch Tournament

Another late night and another win for the Owen Sound Selects at the Canadian U-21 Fastpitch Championships.

Last night in Irma, Alberta, the selects took down the Saskatoon Diamondbacks 3-0 for their seventh win of the tournament.

Leading the way last night was Greg Hammell with 2 home runs to provide the offense in the winning effort.

On the other diamond Brussels native Ty Sebastian went 2 for 3, driving in a run for his Napanee Express team that lost 16-7 to the host Irma Tigers.

Off yesterday were the Stratford Cubs but they are back in action today against the Saskatoon Bullets. The Cubs come into the game with a 5 and 3 record.

The Selects (7-2) won’t play until later tonight when they face the host team Irma, a team they beat 15-0 earlier on in the tournament.
