NHL Draft – Local Player Picks

Some local skaters were among those picked in last night’s NHL draft.

The Vancouver Canucks took Stratford native and Sault Ste. Marie forward Jared McCann as the 24th overall pick.

Orangeville’s Nicholas Ritchie of the Peterborough Petes was chosen 10th overall in the first round by Anaheim.

Kingston Frontenacs defenseman Roland McKeown wasn’t taken in las night’s first round, but is ranked as one of the top five picks for today’s round 2.

Blyth’s Alex Peters, brother of Justin Peters of the Carolina Hurricanes is expected to go in either the 2nd or 3rd round.

Stratford’s Jacob Middleton is also expected to go later in the draft.
