Seaforth Golfer Wins Ontario Match Play

Seaforth’s Robyn Doig successfully defended her Golf Association of Ontario’s Women’s Match Play Championship this week at the Woodington Lake Golf Club’s Legacy Course in Tottenham.

Doig says this was a much different match than last year’s final which she won convincingly.  This year she defeated Christina Foster of Vaughn by one stroke with a birdie on the 17th hole.  Doig says the lead changed hands several times with each player enjoying a one-stroke lead at various times.

Doig’s birdie on the 17th hole put her one up and the tie on the 18th gave her the victory.

Doig’s next tournament is the Toronto Star Women’s Amateur on June 23rd. She won that tournament two years ago but was unable to compete last year because of illness.
