TVSBL: Legionnaires Beat Cubs; Astros Get First Win

Sunday was a busy night for local baseball teams in the Thames Valley Senior Baseball League. Listowel was in Kincardine for their first of many meetings this season while Mitchell was in Ingersoll taking on the Blue Jays.

At Connaught Park in Kincardine the two sides showed why they were the top two teams last season. Only one run separated the sides in an 11-10 win for Listowel.

The Legionnaires had their bats going, with 14 hits including 5 doubles. Nick Seiler was a perfect 3 for 3 with an RBI, David Smith brought in a runner going 4 for 5 and Travis Bennett had two RBI’s with a pair of doubles to lead the way for the Legionnaires.

The Cubs also put up strong offensive numbers in a game with 21 total runs. Chris Inkster led the offense with 3 RBI’s while Mark Richards brought in a run going 3 for 4 on the night.

Don Clarke picked up his first win of the season. He gave up 1 run off 3 hits in four and a third innings pitched with 4 strikeouts. Chris Inkster was credited with the loss for Kincardine.

Almost 200Km away in Tillsonburg, The Mitchell Astros picked up their first win in a 6-4 fashion over the Blue Jays. The victory gives the Astros a 1-2 record so far this season.

Mitchell’s next game is Sunday at 6 P.M in London against the Angels.

Listowel and Kincardine will be meeting Sunday for a double header in Listowel. The first game starts at 2P.M.
