OPP's heavy presence in Londesborough due to assault

Huron County OPP say there's no public safety concerns after several units locked down Londesborough on Sunday afternoon to arrest a 49-year-old suspect.

Police received a call around 12:15 p.m. from a Central Huron resident that reported an individual holding a knife, and that the knife wielding individual had allegedly damaged the caller's property.

Officers attended and closed down the main roadway through of the town north of Clinton, "to allow police to safely deal with the involved individual," according to a release.

One resident reported they were unable to leave their home as police searched for the suspect.

The 49-year-old resident was ultimately located, arrested, and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

The accused is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing June 5.

The road was reopened around 3 p.m.
