UPDATE: OPP investigating trio of "suspicious" Mount Forest fires

Wellington County OPP is now investigating a trio of suspicious fires that broke out in Mount Forest on the morning of June 4.

The first was a structure fire at a business on Sligo Road West and the second was a shed and vehicle fire on Cork Street. The blazes were reported within an hour of each other. Now, police have added a third fire they're deeming suspicious to their investigation.

Additionally, between 3:00 a.m., and 4:00 a.m. on June 4, a yard waste bag was discovered on fire at a residence on Colcleugh Avenue, Mount Forest. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner without incident.

No injuries were sustained in any of these incidents. Officials estimate the damage of the structure fire and shed/vehicle fire is well over a million dollars. No significant damage was caused as a result of the yard waste bag fire.

Another vehicle fire was reported on Sligo Road East on June 7, but police have not confirmed if that fire is also part of this investigation or if it is related to the three suspicious blazes in any way.

Investigators say all three fires are considered suspicious and the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
