Perth East's first All-Wheels Park is officially under construction in Milverton.
A ground breaking ceremony was recently held at the Perth East Recreation Complex marking the beginning of the 100' by 30' concrete project.
All-Wheels Parks are growing in popularity among younger populations, according to the township. They are inclusive outdoor spaces where skateboarders, bikers, roller bladers, and scooter riders alike can gather for some physical activity.
The Canadian Ramp Company will build the park in Milverton over the next few weeks. Construction should be finished by the end of the month.
Members of Perth East Council, the Optimist Club of Mornington attended the ground breaking ceremony along with future park users. The two organizations have been working on the Milverton All-Wheels Park since 2020, fundraising, working with donors, and collaborating on the design. They say the park is just $10,000 shy of its $287,000 goal.
The committee is planning a grand opening for the All-Wheels Park, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 9.
