The City of Owen Sound wants to hear more opinions on short term rentals in the city.
Before June 25, 2023, residents, guests, and Short Term Rental operators—including Bed & Breakfasts—are invited to take a survey and provide their thoughts.
People can visit the online engagement platform, OurCity.OwenSound.ca/STRs, to access the survey, find answers to commonly asked questions, and information about the next phase. People can also find the survey at the service counter in City Hall.
At this time, short term rentals are not licenced by the City of Owen Sound. The survey asks for opinions on the effects of those types of rentals and looks at proposed the solutions put out in Staff Report CR-23-045 for the Corporate Services Committee.
People can comment on whether the city should licence short term rentals, if guest numbers should be capped in those holiday rentals, or if short term rentals should even be allowed.
The Corporate Services Committee will then receive a report outlining the results and next steps.
