Bruce County residents can take advantage of an event in Kincardine on Saturday, May 27 to drop off hazardous waste.

One of the county's 2023 Household Hazardous Waste Days is taking place at the Kincardine Public Works Yard.

People can drop off appropriate waste items at 140 Valentine Ave. between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Residents are asked to remain in their vehicle with windows closed and waste materials placed in their open trunk for unloading.

People can drop off items like fertilizers, fluorescent lights, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, fuel, pool chemicals, used oil, propane tanks, paints, batteries, and solvents. Waste must be received in containers of 30 litres or less for disposal.

Some items are not acceptable such as flares, infectious waste, explosives, cardboard boxes, commercial, agricultural or industrial waste.
