Community Foundation Grey Bruce helps students find support for post-secondary education

The Community Foundation Grey Bruce (CFGB) will help students find money for post-secondary education.

A workshop is planned for May 2, 2023, to help families find out the scholarships, bursaries, and awards available to help pay for school.

Executive Director Stuart Reid says they offer 29 scholarships for local students to apply for through their website, worth $132,000 this year. The workshop will also answer questions about the different types of education grants, how to find scholarships, and tips and tricks to use on applications. And there will be information about the provincial OSAP program.

“We know it feels like a complicated world to navigate for students and that’s why we are always improving our Pay for School search, and simplifying our application process. We’re here as a resource for families," said CFGB Grant Coordinator Jen Legge.

“We are so fortunate to have generous individuals and organizations that have created endowments for the purposes of granting scholarships in perpetuity," said Reid. "Our list keeps growing! This year we have a new scholarship to grant thanks to the Optimist Club of Sydenham and District.”

The session will take place virtually at 7 p.m. on May 2.  Students and parents should visit the CFGB website to register for the workshop. There is also a Pay for School search engine to find the to over 300 additional scholarship opportunities in Ontario.
