Bruce County has increased the income level for families eligible for financial assistance for various programs for children.
County council has approved updates to the Child Activity Assistance Program (CAAP), making it open to families with a gross household income of less than $49,466. That's up from $30,000.
Families will now be able to apply for a subsidy of up to $500 per year, per child under the age of 18, which is an increase of $200
The program supports of activities such as school trips, school nutrition programs, extra-curricular activities, scouts, embers, as well as arts and cultural programs.
“Extracurricular activities promote a sense of belonging and support social development and well-being for children,” said Tina Metcalfe, Director of Human Services. “When fees are a barrier for activities and programming, this assistance program can help give children the opportunity to participate.”
Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen and a resident of Bruce County, and provide verification of gross income.
