Saugeen Conservation advises of high water levels

The recent weather and snowmelt in the region may lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas.

Saugeen Conservation issued a water safety statement Saturday afternoon to advise residents of elevated water levels throughout the watershed.

The region is under a special weather statement and up to 20 millimetres of precipitation is expected Saturday.

Conservations officials said this weekend's weather will contribute to increased water levels which will remain high for a few days.

Between the high water levels, slippery banks, and weakened ice, residents are advised to be cautious around area waterways.

Saugeen Conservation said any remaining ice cover on local watercourses is not safe to be out on.
