Sound of gunshots leads to charges on Saugeen First Nation

Two men are facing charges after Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a wooded area in Saugeen First Nation for reports of gunshots.

Police say some nearby residents reached out to their detachment after hearing multiple shots fired.

On Tuesday night, officers were called to the scene off of Highway 21 just before 11 p.m., but according to OPP, but the suspects weren't located until about 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

As a result of the incident, a 30-year-old man from Saugeen First Nation is facing over a dozen charges including carelessly using and transporting a firearm, possessing drugs, and breaching court-imposed conditions.

A second suspect, 28-years-old of no fixed address, has also been charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, as well as breaching his own probation and weapon prohibition orders.

Both of the accused were taken into custody and were scheduled for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Wednesday.
