Seaforth Emergency Department closure announced for this weekend

A sudden staff shortage has forced another Emergency Department closure at the Seaforth Community Hospital.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has announced the Emergency Department will close Sunday, January 29 at 5 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, January 30  at 7 a.m. to return to regular hours of operation.

Anyone who needs immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will re-route to the nearest available Emergency Department to ensure local residents continue to have access to necessary emergency services If your healthcare needs are not urgent you can call Health Connect Ontario at 811 at any time of day.

The closest 24-hour Emergency Departments to the Seaforth Community Hospital are South Huron Hospital in Exeter, Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich, and Stratford General Hospital. But you should call ahead to make sure the emergency department is open.

The Clinton Public Hospital Emergency Department is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
