West Grey Twp woman charged in crash involving cyclist

A woman from West Grey Township faces charges stemming from a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist last fall.

On October 11, 2022, at around 8:30 a.m., Wellington County provincial police, along with emergency services and the local fire departments, responded to the crash on Wellington County Road 2 at Regency Drive in Minto Township.

A 21-year-old from Clifford was air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the crash. Police say the driver accused of striking the cyclist with her vehicle took off. There were no other injuries.

Following an investigation, police have charged a 28-year-old woman from West Grey Township with failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in bodily harm, careless driving causing bodily harm, failing to report an accident, and failing to remain on the scene of a crash contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The charges have not been proven in court.
