Central Huron Donation Fund open for applications

The Municipality of Central Huron is now accepting applications for funding through its Central Huron Donation Fund.

Mayor Jim Ginn explained the fund was established when the casino opened in Clinton and the concern was that the presence of the casino might make difficult for some of the municipality's not-for-profits and charities to raise money.

“We take 40-thousand dollars from our casino revenues that they pay to the municipality and we offer this up to not-for-profits and special events and charities. We like to limit it to events that will benefit the residents of Central Huron,” said Ginn.

Ginn says the criteria is fairly wide open.

“Financing sports teams that maybe are going to a Provincial or Canadian championship or something like that and then any of our charities whether it be the Hospice or One Care or there's so many good ones out there that need dollars,” said Ginn.

Ginn says their usually not just looking for fund-raising, but more things like special events.

The deadline for applications is March 31st and more information can be found at https://www.centralhuron.ca/en/business-and-development/donation-fund.aspx
