Huron-Bruce MPP reflects on 2022

CKNX News is taking a look back on the year 2022.

In Huron-Bruce, MPP Lisa Thompson said overcoming the pandemic has been difficult, but she is proud of the tenacity and resilience of local businesses and municipalities to push forward.

“Our future is bright. I tip my hat to all of our businesses. I really appreciate the business plans that are coming together and the thoughtfulness in which they’re looking to the future,” said Thompson.

Thompson added that the local telecommunications businesses who have been working to expand broadband connectivity in the area have done great work over the pandemic and continue to do so now.

Thompson is particularly proud of the advancements in infrastructure funding the provincial government has made locally.

“From re-working and developing the road between Tiverton and Port Elgin, to the expansion of the wastewater plant in South Bruce, and the commitment to work with municipalities on construction of new water towers,” she said.

Other highlights include the redevelopment of St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Kincardine, and investments in local hospitals.

Now, Thompson is looking forward to 2023, and is excited to see what’s in store for the region.

“I want to continue to work to bring healthcare closer to home. Also, we’re going to continue to work hard with our local organizations in the spirit of identifying priorities and making sure that the proper investments are being made,”

Thompson added she is looking forward to continuing to work with the 14 municipalities within her riding as new councils begin their terms.
