Bruce Power says it is ready to help power the 1.5 million homes Premier Doug Ford wants to see built in the next decade.
The province is trying to do that with its the More Homes Built Faster Act.
Director of Community, Media Relations and Economic Development John Peevers says the nuclear industry is ready to step up.
"[Electricity] demand is definitely something that is changing in Ontario," said Peevers. "The province is recognizing we're going to need more."
Bruce Power is working on Project 2030, which will see the facility increase its output by up to 700 megawatts which Peevers explained is the equivalent of adding another new reactor. That's enough to power 700 thousand homes.
"We definitely feel like we're doing our part and everybody is going to need to do their part if we are going to continue to grow as a province," Peevers said.
