Midwestern Ontario school boards respond to CUPE strike notice

Midwestern Ontario's school boards are putting together their plans to respond to a possible strike by members of CUPE on Monday.

The Upper Grand District School Board says it is monitoring the labour situation closely, while continuing to working on contingency planning. The board has issued a statement saying it will do whatever it can to keep students learning in-person. But the board admits it will be very challenging to continue in class without the services of  CUPE employees. The board will be providing additional information about UGDSB’s plans for next week as soon as possible.

The Huron Perth Catholic District School Board is advising parents to prepare for remote learning beginning Monday. The board will distribute Chromebooks to students Wednesday and Thursday, and parents are being warned to be ready for several more days of remote learning.

The Avon Maitland District School Board does not have CUPE employees.
