Biker Cinderella: Hanover Police looking for driver who left a shoe behind

Hanover Police are asking for the public's help to find a motorcycle operator that they say failed to remain at the scene of a collision.

In a release police say officers saw the motorcycle "popping wheelies" and driving aggressively on 10th Street on Wednesday around 11:20 p.m.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle but it sped off eastbound on Grey County Road 4 into the Municipality of West Grey. Officers did not pursue for public safety reasons.

Within minutes, police were called to a collision on Grey County Road 4 just east of Hanover. A motorcycle had gone out of control and slid a few hundred metres on the paved portion of the road.

Witnesses told police the driver claimed he was not hurt and was able to restart his bike after several attempts. He left the scene immediately, back towards Hanover.

Police seized pieces of the bike and a single running shoe they believe belongs to the driver.

Police are trying to identify the driver. They say he would have injuries or "road rash" from sliding on the pavement and the motorcycle will have damage to the right side from the slide.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hanover Police Service at 519-364-2411 or Crime Stoppers of Grey-Bruce at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by leaving a secure web tip at www.crimestoppersgb.ca.
