Owen Sound invites input into proposed Waste Management Strategy
The City of Owen Sound is looking for further input as it develops a Waste Management Strategy to provide direction on how the city manages garbage, recycling, and other waste diversion programs.
The city is inviting residents to take the Waste Management Survey to share their thoughts. It added that the survey takes just a few minutes to complete and will be available until Sunday, October 16, 2022.
The survey builds on information collected during the initial public survey in July.
The Waste Management Strategy is expected to look at how new approaches to waste services can support a sustainable environment and work towards diverting more waste from landfills. It will also emphasize waste reduction, reuse, and recycling activities that are environmentally sustainable and cost-effective.
The strategy will work to mitigate climate change impacts under the current waste management system and find solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The City’s residential collection service operates on a bi-weekly waste and collection cycle, with monthly corrugated cardboard collection.
