Ripley resident suffers serious injuries from assault

A Huron-Kinloss resident had to be taken to hospital in London after they were badly injured during an assault in Ripley over the weekend.

At around 11:46 p.m. Sunday, South Bruce County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were called to a home on Jesse Street for a report of a "serious assault".

The victim, a 57-year-old resident from Huron-Kinloss Township, was transported to a hospital in London to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have since laid an aggravated assault charge against a 26-year-old man, also of Huron-Kinloss. The accused remains in police custody as of Tuesday evening.

Police say this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety.

Members of the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate the assault under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
