Prime Minister discusses housing challenges with Wellington County

Wellington County's Social Services Administrator joined a round table talk with the Prime Minister this week in an effort to end homelessness and work towards providing additional transitional and affordable housing options for residents.

Luisa Artuso said they had a very productive discussion about the challenges and some of the successful strategies implemented with federal funding.

Artuso added cooperation between all levels of government and supportive communities can help end chronic homelessness.

Following the round table discussion, Prime Minister Trudeau announced that the Government of Canada will be investing $2 billion to address homeless and affordable housing challenges across the country.

Other participants in the discussion were Kitchener South-Hespeler MP Valerie Bradford, Guelph MP Lloyd Longfield, Executive Director of Stepping Stone Gail Hoeskstra, Dominica McPherson (Director of the Guelph-Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination),  and Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion Ahmed Hussen.
