Hanover police have laid several charges against a man after a pickup truck was reportedly found flipped over just outside of town early Friday morning.
At around 1:40 a.m., police were patrolling a residential neighbourhood on 12th Avenue between 8th and 9th streets when an officer spotted an older model black Ford pickup truck driving in a "suspicious" manner.
"Police followed the truck for a short distance northbound on Grey Road 10 and attempted a traffic stop on Bruce Road 22, but when the cruiser's emergency lights were activated, the truck fled at a high rate of speed down Marl Lake Road and out of sight," a release from Hanover police read.
A short time later, police located the suspect vehicle upside down on Marl Lake Road. Police say the driver, who appeared to be uninjured, attempted to take off from the scene. However, officers quickly caught up to him, and he was arrested.
The suspect, identified as a 39-year-old Hanover man, is charged with flight from police, dangerous operation, failing to comply with probation, operating a vehicle while prohibited, and driving while suspended.
The accused has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court on October 2.
