Harness The Hope and Wiener Dog races held at Clinton Raceway

The annual Harness The Hope Race Day and Wiener Dog race at Clinton Raceway raised over $5,000 for various cancer organizations. Sunday's race included a field of six wiener dogs racing to become the next Clinton Raceway Wiener Dog champion after defending champion Ellie was unable to defend her title. The 20 meter race was over in less than 5 seconds with heavyweight Parker winning for owners Lee Ann and Corrina Trachsel.

In addition to the annual Wiener dog race, it was Harness The Hope day. Gypsy Merlot and driver Paul Mackenzie settled in third before making the first over grind just past the halfway point. The 6 year old mare made quick work of race leader after fast fractions up front and pulled away to a 2 length score. The Trevin Shive trainee visited the winner’s circle for the 27th time in her career, while pushing her bankroll to $193,668.

Clinton Raceway returns to action on Sunday, August 21st for Young Guns Miniature Horse Racing. The Prospect Series also comes to town for 2 year old filly trotters and 2 year old colt pacers. Racing action gets underway at 1:30 PM.
