COVID-19 outbreak over at Brucelea Haven Long Term Care

Grey Bruce Public Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Brucelea Haven Long Term Care Home in Walkerton to be over. The announcement was made on Thursday, August 11, 2022,

“Thank you to the incredible staff at Brucelea Haven for their continued dedication and diligence to ensure all residents receive safe, high-quality care. Thank you to residents and families for your cooperation and understanding as we implemented enhanced safety measures in the home,” said Warden Janice Jackson.

Grey Bruce Public Health first confirmed that a positive case of COVID-19 was identified at Brucelea Haven and classified the home to be in outbreak status, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. A media release from the county said all enhanced precautions and safety measures were immediately put in place to support all residents and staff, as part of Bruce County’s COVID-19 Response Plan.

According to the media release, "Bruce County’s Long Term Care Homes are in full compliance with the Long Term Care Homes Act and all associated regulations. The focus for the homes continues to ensure a robust pandemic response."
