Grey Highlands council to discuss road safety recommendations

Since an accident along a roadway in Eugenia last month, residents continue to express concern regarding street safety across the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

At its regular council meeting this week, councillors heard concerns regarding safety along the same roadway where a pedestrian was killed by a motorist that fled the scene.

Council also discussed recommendations by the Grey Highlands Police Services Board to investigate safety at the intersection of Inkerman Street and Canrobert Street in Eugenia, however these recommendations were voted down after Chief Administrative Officer Karen Govan appeared to caution council against reaction to the accident on the advice of lawyers.
44-year-old Kevin Walsh was killed in July while walking with his partner and friends in Eugenia.
Police say they have identified the driver and continue to investigate with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police, or Crime Stoppers.
