HPHA announces additional ED closures

As a result of ongoing health human resource shortages, two of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance’s Emergency Departments will be temporarily reducing their hours.

The St. Marys Memorial Hospital’s ED will close at 5:00pm on Friday, July 22nd. It will reopen Saturday morning at 7:00am, then close again Saturday at 5:00pm.

Regular hours of operation (24/7) will resume on Sunday, July 24th, at 7:00 a.m.

Also, the Seaforth Community Hospital’s ED will close Friday, July 22nd, at 5:00pm, and resume regular hours of operation (24/7) on Saturday, July 23rd, at 7:00 a.m.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available Emergency Department.

"These are remarkably challenging times for all in the healthcare system and I want to acknowledge and thank all HPHA Team Members for how they continue to step up to provide the best care possible," says Andrew Williams, President & CEO. “The decision to reduce hours, while remarkably difficult, is the most responsible decision we can make when looking at the overall provision of emergency care across our region."
