People mingle in Clinton

Close to 500 people attended Monday night's Mayor's Mingle on the main street in Clinton.

Mayor Jim Ginn says this is about the sixth or seventh Mayor's Mingle, but the first one since the pandemic.

The focus of the mingle was to celebrate the re-vitalized main street in Clinton.

“Redoing the main street was a big thing and you know, we went to a little extra expense to make it pretty because, you know, you're only going to do this every 40 or 50 years, so we wanted to do that and it looks pretty good,” said Ginn.

Ginn says one of the benefits of having the annual Mayor's Mingle is that it provides a very informal opportunity for people to talk with councillors.

“People get sometimes a little bit intimidated to come (to council), so this is just a casual time and they can speak to all of the members of council, all of council is here. So it's just an informal way and if there's just something in the back of your mind that you wouldn't pick up the phone to call about, you can chat with one of the council members here.”

Ginn says they more they can do to make the downtown attractive, the more people will come to the town and stay for awhile, so everyone benefits from a downtown that looks appealing.
