New agreement to allow paramedics to improve home care

Huron County is in the process of entering into a data and network sharing agreement with Ontario Health.

That will allow Huron County Paramedic Services to securely transfer patient information and electronic communication between Home and Community Care Support Services and the Huron County Community Paramedicine Program.

Jeff Horseman is the Huron County Chief of Emergency Services.

“It allows the physicians and the care partners in the community to have access to the client's health records and treatment plans and this report will allow the county to sign the agreement to be part of that group of care providers,” said Horseman.

Horseman says community paramedics will be able to log into the system and view the records of the clients that they're treating. That includes a treatment plan, medication and other important information.

Horseman says that will also allow for documentation of visits and treatments with clients to be shared with the other caregivers in the group.
