Goderich to consider bylaws around busking

Goderich Mayor, John Grace, says a couple of recent requests to council have raised their attention to a gap in their bylaws.

Grace explains, two people have asked for permission to busk on the beaches this summer and one of them has also asked for permission to busk on the Square. Grace says, they realized they don't currently have a policy on busking.

“We've asked staff to bring back a policy right away, hopefully within two weeks. We don't have a policy on buskers and we don't have any bylaws or licensing, but we need that. It's something that is growing.”

Grace says busking is becoming more popular, so they are going to push for a policy as soon as possible.

“So we are going to aggressively go after a policy that fits, not only our waterfront, because it's a real attraction, but also downtown Goderich and hopefully we'll have something back in two weeks.”
