St. Marys road closures due to construction of new Waterpark

Construction continues on the new Super Splash Waterpark at the St. Marys Quarry.

A media release says sections of Washington St. and Water St. S. will be closed over the next two weeks to accommodate the the installation of the new amusements.

Crews will be constructing 60 concrete blocks on Washington Street to be used as anchors for the inflatable. A helicopter will then be used to place these blocks into the swimming quarry.

The timing of the closures may vary depending on factors such as weather. Washington Street will be closed between Water Street South and Wellington Street South until Friday, June 17.

Meantime, eight to twelve hours will be required to complete the helicopter airlift of anchors into the swimming Quarry.

Depending on weather conditions, this work is expected to occur between Tuesday, June 14 to Friday, June 17 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Water St. South will be closed (local traffic only) between Line 3 and the Quarry/Racket Courts during the airlift.

Water Street South in the front of the Quarry will be closed with no access during the airlift. No through traffic will be allowed.

Wellington Street South will be closed (local traffic only) from St. Maria to Washington Street during the airlift.

The St. Marys Racket Courts, Riverview Walkway the Fishing Quarry and Teddy’s Field will be closed from Tuesday, June 14 to Friday, June 17.

Parking at Teddy’s Field will be unavailable for the duration of the project.

Bluewater Recycling and Murphy Bus Lines will be allowed through as required between helicopter lifts so as to not disrupt routes and schedules.
