Huron East leaving fire station structure as is

The Mayor of Huron East says they won't be amalgamating any fire hall in the municipality at this time.

Bernie MacLellan says they had asked their CAO to review a list of things related to fire services in the municipality and the list specifically identified nine items.

There are five items that needed to be addressed immediately.

But the other four are being shelved for the moment.

Those four items included a recommendation to consider amalgamating the fire stations in Ethel and Brussels and making some changes involving the Seaforth.

“The discussion about the other four options, it was decided that we need to wait a minimum of three years and then do a review again and see if the changes that council has already approved get us close to where we feel we should be,” said MacLellan.

MacLellan says he believes council, as well as the people attending the council meeting, were happy that the municipality is addressing the specific items regarding training, equipment and purchasing, going forward.

But as far as the amalgamation of the fire halls is concerned, they're going to leave that as it is.
