An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) – St. Marys Memorial Hospital has been declared over by Huron Perth Public Health.
The outbreak had been declared on the Inpatient Unit on April 18, 2022 after five cases of the virus were identified.
Huron Perth Public Health and the alliance said once the outbreak was declared, immediate precautions were implemented, including prevalence testing in team members and patients. In total, 16 patients acquired the virus while in hospital, along with six team members.
As there have been no further cases associated with this outbreak, the Inpatient Unit has been reopened to admissions and transfers. Family and Caregiver Presence on the Unit has also been restored.
