Several groups receive grants from Perth Huron United Way

Perth Huron United Way has announced the recipients of its New Initiative Grants.

Executive Director Ryan Erb says this year they've awarded a record $115,000 to seven different organizations.

“New Initiative Grants really are for organizations in our community that are trying to test a new idea," explained Erb. "So every year there are gaps in programs and services that people see, but they're not exactly sure about what the best way is to address them. So the New Initiative Grant stream gives them a chance to test something out and see if their new programs will work.”

This year's recipients include the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, John Howard Society of London and District, and Stratford/Perth Shelterlink.

“We're also grateful that our friends at the Community Table in Exeter have received some funding so that they can test a transportation program. They know that some of their clients come in from the area around Exeter and have difficulty sometimes affording getting in for the programs, services that they offer,” said Erb.

A complete list of recipients and their projects can be found on the Perth Huron United Way website.
