The Huron County Library and the Huron Immigration Partnership are jointly hosting a series of information sessions next week.
“We are inviting community members and organizations to attend to learn about what is happening in Huron County and specifically in their community, to support people coming from Ukraine. So it's a chance to ask your questions and find out how you can get involved,” said Immigration Partnership Coordinator, Kristan Crane.
“There are many organizations that are fund-raising, other organizations have been collecting supplies and are interested in hearing if there's housing available and some employers are hoping that some of the Ukrainians that are coming to our area may be interested in some of our work opportunities.”
Crane says, with so many people and organizations wanting to help, they felt it was important to take an inventory of the projects already underway to avoid any duplication going forward. She adds, the role of the Immigration Partnership is to coordinate service for newcomers and this is just another way of doing that.
Crane says there are three in-person sessions next week, the first at the Exeter Library on Tuesday, April 12th from seven till 8;30, the second is at the Seaforth Library on Wednesday, April 13th from seven till 8:30 and the third at the Alice Munro Library in Wingham on Thursday, April 14th from two till 3:30 in the afternoon. Crane says there is also a virtual information session on April 20th from seven till 8:30.
