Kincardine's Malcolm Place set to close

Residents of Malcolm Place Retirement Home in Kincardine were surprised to receive a letter Tuesday that the home will be closing its doors.

In the letter, it says that all in-house services would end on June 8th. This includes the pharmacy,  nursing, bathing and dressing assistance, administration of medication, continence care, assistance with personal hygiene and ambulation and provision of meals.

The notice adds Malcolm Place “will cease to operate as a retirement residence July 8,” and “a list of external service providers will be provided for anyone wishing to remain as a tenant at 255 Durham Street, after June 8, 2022.”

As stated in the letter, the owners had to make this difficult decision due to ongoing financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
