COVID-19 still causing hospitalizations in Wellington Dufferin Guelph

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 14 residents hospitalized with COVID-19 Thursday, including three in the intensive care. The seven day moving average for intensive care occupancy sits at almost 94%, with hospital occupancy at about 85%.

Public health says vaccinated individuals end up in Ontario ICU's at at rate that is nearly 11% greater compared to those who are fully vaccinated.

Published Graphs of wastewater surveillance show relatively low COVID-19 activity in Guelph and Orangeville in December, with a major spike in January. By the end of February activity levels dropped back down to levels similar to the end of the year.

There are currently 88 active cases in Wellington County, including 18 in Minto, seven in Mapleton, and seven in Wellington North.
