Applications open for Central Huron Donation Fund

The municipality of Central Huron is now accepting applications for funding through their Central Huron Donation Fund.

Mayor, Jim Ginn, said any charities or not-for-profits are eligible for funding and he explains the municipality dedicates forty-thousand dollars to the fund ever year.

Ginn added, “and those dollars come from casino revenues and the lottery licences, we keep five-thousand out to pay lottery licences for any charity that's running a lottery, so we have 35-thousand dollars that are available for other uses.”

To qualify for funding, organizations must be non-profit and proposed programs or events must clearly demonstrate a direct social or economic benefit for residents of Central Huron.

Ginn said the Fund was specifically created for charities.

He explained, “and back to when it was first developed, when the casino came in we thought it might make it harder for charities and not-for-profits to raise money. So that's why we offer donations to groups like that.”

Applications should be clearly marked Central Huron Donation Fund and should be sent, no later than 4:30 on March 22nd, to Nicole Lowe, Records Clerk. Municipality of Central Huron, 23 Albert Street Clinton, Ontario, N0M 1L0. records@centralhuron.com
