Perth County approves budget

Perth County Council has adopted the 2022 budget in principle, which would mean a 5.92% increase to the levy.

Staff presented council with the details of the Capital and Operating budgets on Thursday and they are just over $1 million higher compared to 2021 and sit at $18.1 million.

For the average single family home in Perth County, it equates to an increase of $21.59.

There are a number of road and bridge reconstruction projects in the budget including a 14.2 km stretch of Perth Rd. 131 from Milverton to Perth Line 86 as well reconstruction of Perth Line 8 from Perth Road 163 to Highway 23 at Kirkton.

"County Council has done an excellent job reviewing the budget for the upcoming year. I am pleased that we achieved consensus and approved the budget quickly," said Warden Jim Aitcheson. "Council remains focused on the goals of our Strategic Plan and ensuring we are adequately supporting the programs and services our growing region requires."
