COVID-19 cases rise locally

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting 13 new infections Monday. There are at least 179 active cases. 11 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. To date, 25 deaths have been reported due to COVID-19.    

Eight facilities are experiencing outbreaks. These include Rockwood Terrace Long Term Care – Durham, Errinrung Retirement Home - Thornbury, Parkview Manor – Chesley, Summit Place – Owen Sound, Season’s Owen Sound, Lee Manor – Owen Sound,  Kelso Pines Retirement Home  – Owen Sound, and Maple Court Retirement Home - Walkerton. 

Huron Perth Public Health is reporting 60 new cases since Friday. 10 residents are hospitalized due to the virus. To date, 85 residents have died because of the virus. There are six active outbreaks in Huron Perth. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 199 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, 57 of which are in Wellington County, where there are 183 active cases. 40 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. To date, 42 Wellington County residents have died due to the virus. 

Nine facilities are experiencing outbreaks, including Caressant Care - Fergus, Highland Manor- Fergus, and Caressent Care - Harriston. 

The number of COVID-19 patients in Ontario hospitals has decreased to 2,982 today, from 3,019 the day before. There are 583 people testing positive for the virus in intensive care units.

The province is reporting 31 more COVID-19 deaths today.

Ontario is reporting 3,043 new cases of COVID-19 today, but Public Health Ontario has said the real case count is likely higher because of the province's limited testing policy.
